About the Society
We are a 501c3, all volunteer, organization of interested residents who work to preserve and interpret the important history of our community at the tip of Michigan’s Thumb. In our collection of historic buildings you will discover the rich stories that have made this area prosper. From the lumber industry, to salt production, grindstone quarries, and national defense, the maritime history of the Port Austin area helped make our state the place it is today.
